Statement on the current hot weather

The JCB Pony Club Championships is set to be running during a period of high temperatures and organisers feel that they can put sufficient provisions in place to mitigate against the forecast hot weather.

These mitigating provisions include:

  • A vet is on site throughout the championship whilst competitions are running, with additional veterinary support on cross country days
  • There will be additional water across the site
  • Maximum use will be made of the shade on site for collecting ring and cool down areas
  • The timetable for some of the events may be adjusted to take advantage of the cooler mornings
  • Competitors may wish to use stall guards so that stables doors can be left open for additional ventilation
  • Cordless fans are permitted for use whilst horses are stabled at the champs

Competitors are best placed to know if the conditions will be suitable for their horse or pony, including travel to and from the event. We advise that everyone travels with extra water, buckets and sponges and leave dogs at home if possible.

Thank you to all of our hard-working volunteers for the huge amount of careful planning and effort that goes into making events as enjoyable and safe as possible for our members and their horses and ponies.
